About Thomas Lewis

T.R. Lewis, M.D. is a fellowship-trained pediatric orthopedic surgeon. His areas of interest include spinal deformity (scoliosis), pediatric trauma and fractures, pediatric hip surgery, and hip preservation surgery in adolescents and young adults up to age 30 as well as limb deformity correction. He began practice at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital OU Health in August 2010 and was recently promoted to the rank of associate professor in the OU College of Medicine.

Dr. Lewis earned his medical degree from Texas A&M University College of Medicine in College Station, TX in 2004. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the OU College of Medicine in Oklahoma City, OK in 2009. He continued his sub-specialization training with a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at the Shriner's Hospital for Children in St. Louis, MO and Washington University in 2009-2010.

In his community, Dr. Lewis serves as a deacon and community group leader at Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond and on the board of Willow Springs Boys Ranch in Chandler, Oklahoma.

In 2016 -2017, Dr. Lewis and his family lived and worked in Matagalpa, Nicaragua during a sabbatical year in which he worked in the public healthcare system in Nicaragua caring for many as well as teaching the orthopedic surgeons and training staff at the regional hospital in the central part of the country. Since returning, Dr. Lewis has been able to bring back his second language of Spanish, a deeper understanding of Central American cultures and an empathetic compassion for those living outside of their native country, language and culture.
