About David Chong

David Y. Chong, M.D. is a fellowship-trained pediatric orthopedic surgeon specializing in limb deformity. His areas of interest include the diagnosis and treatment of congenital deficiencies, skeletal dysplasia, limb reconstruction, hip preservation and spinal surgery.

Dr. Chong received his medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, TN in 2007. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Alabama-Birmingham Medical Center in Birmingham, AL in 2012. He continued his specialized education and training with a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at the University of Utah and Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Salt Lake City, UT in 2013. He then completed a second fellowship in limb deformity and reconstruction surgery at the Paley Advanced Limb Lengthening Institute in West Palm Beach, FL in 2014.

When he is not treating orthopedic injuries, Dr. Chong attempts to avoid injuries of his own while snowboarding, hiking, and playing basketball and soccer. He tries to escape at least once a year to participate in overseas missions within underdeveloped countries.
