About Rishi Thakral

Rishi Thakral, MD is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with OU Health Physicians, specializing in adult reconstruction and joint replacement. Dr. Thakral specializes in total joint replacement (hip and knee), revision total joint surgery and hip preservation surgery. He also has interest in lower extremity deformity correction and lengthening.

Dr. Thakral earned his medical degree at M.R. Medical College in Gulbarga, India. He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery and general surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland. He continued his specialization with a fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at the University of Chicago in Chicago, IL and the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA. He also completed a fellowship in limb reconstruction and lengthening at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD. 

Dr. Thakral has a strong commitment to patient care and education. He believes in educating his patient about their condition and assists them in making decisions for their care. He strives to improve their quality of life by using advanced care protocols, technology and balancing with care with evidence-based medicine.
