About Raid Aljumaily

Raid Aljumaily, MD, associate professor, Hematology/Oncology, joined the Stephenson Cancer Center in 2014. His interest in thoracic oncology started during his fellowship years at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, where he learned a broad spectrum of methods and approaches to treating thoracic malignancies. Aljumaily continues to build upon this knowledge through utmost patient care and extensive research, particularly, a phase II study of low-dose paclitaxel with timed thoracic radiotherapy followed by adjuvant chemotherapy.

While in East Carolina University, he did a retrospective review of his experience treating lung cancer patients with oligometastatic disease. Dr. Aljumaily’s background inspires him to link basic science findings to clinical research ideas for patients with lung cancer.

Dr. Aljumaily is a member of the lung committee of 2 national cooperative groups (SWOG and NRG) and the chair on a national NCI sponsored clinical trial, S1933 for a novel approach to treatment of patients with stage 2 and 3 non-small cell lung cancer.
